Well, now...thats just the beauty of blogging.... Tony Morostica saw the question about rock carvings/etchings along the Greenhorn Creek near Rye and easily answered the question. He even supplied a picture! Now I think the picture clearly shows a conquistadore on horseback with a shield, but I guess it could be a cowboy with a rope as well...check out the picture and see what you think.

Rock Drawings behind St. Aloysius Church?

I heard through a friend that there might be some old drawings or etchings in the rocks along Greenhorn Creek behind the Catholic Church in Rye (or maybe behind the cemetery). Anyone heard of this?

Thanks,
John

Lyman Aiken

Well, we lost Lyman Aiken last week. I didn't know him real well, but I did spend some time with him around a woodburning stove last winter while he told of how life was in extreme western Rye in the old days.He drove a school bus and said he had to park it a mile or so down the road so he could get thorugh all the snow. He was a great guy and will be missed. John
